Hot water recirculation systems

If you wait a minute for hot water at the far bathroom, you're pouring clean water down the drain every day. A recirculation system keeps hot water moving so it's at the tap in seconds. We install Grundfos comfort systems that work in finished homes without running a new return line, and dedicated-loop systems for new construction.

Questions

Hot Water Recirculation FAQ

More on our FAQ page.

Do I need a return line?

No. Comfort systems use a bypass valve at the farthest fixture and the cold line as the return, so they work in finished homes without opening walls. A dedicated loop is better if walls are already open.

Does it raise my energy bill?

A little, which is why we install timers or on-demand controls so the pump runs when you're actually using hot water. Most people find the water savings and convenience are worth it.

Will it work with a tankless heater?

Yes, with the right pump and setup. Some tankless units have built-in recirculation; we'll match the system to your heater.
